{"id":33,"date":"2009-08-09T20:11:51","date_gmt":"2009-08-10T04:11:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.belmarnj.net\/blog\/?p=33"},"modified":"2009-09-22T19:20:08","modified_gmt":"2009-09-23T03:20:08","slug":"barnegat-light-wins-lbi-tournament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.belmarnj.net\/blog\/barnegat-light-wins-lbi-tournament\/","title":{"rendered":"Barnegat Light Wins LBI Tournament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 48th Annual Long Beach Island Beach Patrol Association Lifeguard Tournament was held on August 7 and 8, 2009.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.longbeachislandjournal.com\/communities\/barnegat-light\">Barnegat Light<\/a> was the overall winner, taking the tournament from the defending two-time winners Surf City.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Barnegat Light &#8211; 100 points<\/li>\n<li>Surf City &#8211; 74 points<\/li>\n<li>Long Beach Township &#8211; 63 points<\/li>\n<li> Ship Bottom &#8211; 53 points<\/li>\n<li>Harvey Cedars &#8211; 49 points<\/li>\n<li>Beach Haven &#8211; 43 points<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The tournament was made up of numerous events spread over the two days, including (event &#8211; winner):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mile Row \u2013 Barnegat Light<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s Paddle \u2013 Harvey Cedars<\/li>\n<li>Bouy Rescue \u2013 Surf City<\/li>\n<li>Paddle Relay \u2013 Ship Bottom<\/li>\n<li>Surf Boat Rescue \u2013 Surf City<\/li>\n<li>Iron Man Race \u2013 Barnegat Light<\/li>\n<li>Run, Swim Relay &#8211; Barnegat Light<\/li>\n<li>1,000 foot Open Swim, Men &#8211; Barnegat Light<\/li>\n<li>1,000 foot Open Swim, Women &#8211; Barnegat Light<\/li>\n<li>Paddle Rescue \u2013 Barnegat Light<\/li>\n<li>Line Race \u2013 Barnegat Light<\/li>\n<li>1,500 foot Paddle Race \u2013 Barnegat Light<\/li>\n<li>Single Row \u2013 Long Beach Township<\/li>\n<li>1,000 foot Doubles Row \u2013 Harvey Cedars<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now Barnegat Light sets themselves up to be the crew to beat next year. Surf City had a nice two year run before them and was in the lead after the first day of competition. Will next year find these two fighting for the top spot once again or will a new winner emerge?
